How We Can Help

If you are considering developing or updating a strategic plan, you can request assistance from the Office of Quality Improvement. You can contact us at 262-6843. We also invite you to email your ideas, questions, and comments to: quality@oqi.wisc.edu

We offer consultation and facilitation services for academic and administrative units throughout the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We have helped over 80 units on campus with strategic planning efforts, including over 50 academic units in every school and college.

We begin by listening to your needs and then tailoring the approach to meet your specific needs, culture, timing, and desired aims. We can help you:

  • Define what you want to accomplish
  • Determine how you will use a plan, who will be the audiences
  • Design the process for developing a plan, including retreats and/or other meetings
  • Develop ways to engage people
  • Design methods to gather ideas, feedback, and data to inform your plan
  • Develop action plans
  • Develop measures

Using a facilitator allows you to focus attention on content and ensure that everyone is able to be a full participant in the planning and decision-making.

We urge you to contact us early. Sometimes people wait until they have a retreat designed, and then call us. We can serve you much better if you call early, when you are first considering whether or not you want to develop or update your plan.
